George William Neville Service Record

NEVILLE George William, Private, aged 31 years, enlisted 11 December 1915 at Saffron Walden 14th Essex Regiment, height 5 feet 3 inches, chest 34 inches. Married to Mary Maud Barltrop married at Debden 15th. April 1911.
His enlistment states he is married with one child who was born in April 1912, possibly Mary. A second child was born 23 July 1917 at Bishops Stortford and named as Evelyn Phyllis.

then appeared to move to New Cottages, Henham.
He was employed as a nursery labourer. Next of kin given as Maud Mary Neville, wife, of New Cottages, Henham, Essex. Given leave to UK 31st Aug – 14th Sept. 1918. Protection Certificate & Certificate of Identity for soldier not remaining with the colours issued at Purfleet No 1 Dispersal Unit given for 28 days furlough. Disability Statement not due to military service made 27th Aug 1919.
Army Allowance document showing pension of 19s.6d per week to be paid at Henham Post Office where the postmaster/mistress is shown as E. Gardiner. Casualty form shows he embarked from Folkstone to Rouen on 20th Aug. 1917 and was at Etaples and Ypres Front and finally returned on 16th Mar. 1919. Found to be suffering from enteritis in 1919.
