We recently received an email from Chile. The sender has identified his grandparents x 5 were from Henham and Elsenham. Children of Thomas Little ( abt 1785 ? ) of Elsenham & Mary Prior (abt 1790 ?) of Henham.

Their four children included Joseph Frederick Little ( born Shoreditch 1829-1880 ) Joseph Frederick Little married Elizabeth Herring ( 1827-1912 ) : Joseph’s children were Joseph Henry Little ( 1848-1914) and 6 more Joseph Henry Little married Ann Ramscar (1850 – 1911) and their children were Frederick Joseph Little (1873 nn ) and 2 more Frederick Joseph Little married Gertrude Garnier ( 1873-1933 ) and had two children including Reginald Herbert Little ( 1900 1960 ) Reginald Herbert Little married Carmen Bernain ( 1901-1945 ) and had two children including Kenneth Ralph Little ( Ipswich 1932 – ) the family moved to Chile whilst Kenneth was a child Kenneth Ralph Little married Greta Busetti ( 1938 – ) and they have four children George Edward Little ( Chile 1962 – ).
I have now received a second email from Australia, which shows that the Little family emigrated all over the world. Mary Prior and Thomas Little had 10 children credited to them…. (or are there 2 couples of the same name) John Little was born to Thomas and Mary 12 February 1817 in Shoreditch, London John married Sarah Sharpe, daughter of John Sharpe, on 16 January 1841 at Shoreditch. Sarah died 1845. John Little, remarried Louisa TINDAL on 3 February 1849 in the Parish church in Plumstead, Kent, England.
A bible presented to John before he emigrated to Australia is inscribed: ” John Little, Presented to him by his mother 1836; 12 York St Hacking Road, London”. A note in John’s bible states that John and Louisa landed in Melbourne on 11 February 1850. The bible lists the births, and deaths of John and Louisa’s offspring: John LITTLE and Louisa TINDALL had 10 children; of whom 2 reached adulthood and only one married and had children. Louisa Clara LITTLE was born on 18 June 1851 in Richmond. She married George Barton MAGGS on 14 June 1888. Louisa died in 1931. George Maggs and Louisa Little had 2 children in Melbourne, Australia: George John born 1889 and Doris Louise born 1893. George John Maggs was the author’s grandfather.
