He is buried at Fampoux British Cemetery France. Born in Debden, Essex . He was the eldest son of Frederick and Ruth Johnson of Stone Cottage Henham. His brother Frederick Harwood Johnson also served in the war. On 1911 census William was working as a business assistant.
He had two other brothers Edward and Charles and a sister Rose.
The Essex Newsman reported his death on 9 June 1917, died of his wounds aged 20.
